![]() ![]() So how much faster can the browser be? That's a tricky question, as performance varies greatly depending on what's being tested. Pale Moon, though, is optimised to take full advantage of modern processors, and this can give it a huge advantage over Firefox in some areas. In particular, Firefox is compiled with the most conservative of settings, to ensure that it'll run on even ancient CPUs. And Pale Moon also drops support for Internet Explorer's ActiveX and ActiveX scripting technology, which also offers a security benefit as it means the browser can't be infected by malicious ActiveX controls. ![]() The crash report has also been stripped out, as it's designed to work with server-side technology that isn't available on. The program has been made more lightweight, for instance, by stripping out little-used components like the accessibility features, and the parental controls. It used to be able to do 1080p and 4k until YT separated the video and audio streams for these higher res versions.Pale Moon is a customised version of Firefox, which has been carefully optimised for speed and efficiency. I think Download YouTube Videos as MP4 is being expanded to do this, but don't quote me on that. I personally haven't found anything that will do that, unless DH does? Any resolution higher than that requires something that will download separate audio and video streams for the vid (again for the higher res YT vids this is the way Google has things set up). With Download YouTube Videos as MP4 the max resolution you can download is 720p (one stream - audio & video combined - that is the way Google has them set-up). ![]() So, how is it different from DH, both in how it works and how it measures? Why is It able to download videos that are presumably protected, while DH cannot? I'm almost entirely concerned about the audio quality, not video. Is my first assumption correct, that it must be because they are a very low quality copy? I don't know how to compare the numbers regarding definition between them, they may not be measuring the same way. ![]() And it downloads them almost as fast as DH downloads 0 byte files.
